Nnamdi Kanu 'We don't care if you send him back to prison,' IPOB tells FG

The IPOB stressed that the Federal Government would be making a major mistake by arresting Kanu again.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said the group is not bothered about the Federal Government's plan to re-arrest its leader, Nnamdi Kanu over breach of bail conditions.

Justice Binta Nyako had granted Kanu bail on April 25, 2017, with conditions the IPOB camp consider 'unconstitutional'.

The judge barred Kanu from granting interviews and participating in any rally.

Justice Nyako also prohibited him from being in any crowd of more than 10 persons.

It was reported on Saturday, June 3, that the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja said Kanu has repeatedly breached his bail conditions.

The ministry, which is in charge of the IPOB leader's prosecution, said it is taking record of the breaches and may ask the court to revoke his bail.

In reaction to the ministry's statement, the IPOB said the Federal Government would be making a major mistake by arresting Kanu again.

The group's spokesman, Comrade Emma Powerful, said the revocation of Kanu’s bail would not affect the agitation for Biafra.

"We don’t give a damn – whether they arrest him (Kanu) or not we don’t bother," Powerful said in an email he sent to Punch.

"Whether keep Nnamdi Kanu in or out of Nigerian prisons, the restoration effort continues unabated."

He added that "Having Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in prison is always good for the struggle to restore Biafra."
