God Told Me To Open A Christian Night Club – Julius Agwu

God Told Me To Open A Christian Night Club – Julius Agwu

It was reported that comedian Julius Agwu is about to open a Christian nightclub called ‘Believer’s Lounge‘. In an interview with THE NET;
Its God’s calling. God spoke to me do it. We have unbelievers going to clubs, popping champagne and all that, so we want to have a club where believers can hangout too and pop nonalcoholic drinks. It’s basically an assignment from God.
The club is located at Lekki and we are taking it everywhere. God also told me to raise young ambassadors that will fight his battle he said.
He said he is now on a mission to bring people back to Christ.
I was recently declared dead. I realized that I actually died but God brought me back. He is giving me a second chance and people rarely get this opportunity of having a second chance.
He saved my life and I have decided to dedicate my life to him. I have a Christian group now called CEO, Christian Entertainers Outreach through which we will bring back many people who devil has taken away he said.

A quick reminder not to dare God, after a popular South African pastor dies following 30 days fasting in a bid to break Jesus Christ’s record.
In a determined bid to break the record set by
Jesus Christ of Nazareth, a 44-year-old popular
South African pastor, Alfred Ndlovu, has died of
malnutrition following a dry fasting that lasted for
30 days.
According to Buzz South Africa, the cleric left home
on June 17 for a nearby bush to have prayers just
like Jesus did in an attempt to equal or break Jesus
Christ’s record of fasting for 40 days, but died just a
month despite having no history of illness.
It was learnt that the pastor was alone in the
wilderness and his body was found by a stranger
who then called on his family, congragation and
the police.
He was known by his family and community at
large as a very spiritual person whose faith could
move mountains and his death surprised everyone,
even church members.

I Have Surrendered My Life to Jesus – Actor Sylvester Stallone (Rambo)

Popular American actor, Sylvester Stallone recently made a very important decision in his life. And it’s not another blockbuster film.

He announced that he “has surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Stallone made this life-changing announcement before releasing his latest ROCKY movie. However, his “public announcement” was not covered by the news media. If he had announced he was GAY, all the media, TV shows and newspapers would have given it full coverage.
He announced that he “has surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ.”

4 Sexual Sins Every Christian Need To Avoid

4 Sexual Sins Every Christian Need To Avoid

#1:- Uncleanness
Often refers to homosexuality and lesbianism

#2:- Fornication
Phonography, simplicity sexual intercourse including prostitution, whoredom, inc*st, licentiousness (lack of moral restraint), and habitual immorality (would include sexual fantasies that lead to self service).

#3:- Adultery
Unlawful sexual intercourse involving at least one married person. Adultery is incompatible with the harmonious laws of family life in God’s kingdom, and is under God’s judgment since it violates God’s original purpose.

#4:- Lewdness
Unashamed indecency, unbridled lust, unrestrained depravity (a disposition or settled tendency to evil, the innate corruption of unregenerate man), the person with this characteristic has an insolent defiance of public opinion, sinning in broad daylight with arrogance and contempt.
Again, this often refers to sexual sin. Here’s where many people err in their understanding of their sexuality. Notice the following verses. “Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power” (1 Cor. 6:13-14). Paul is correcting the dangerous misconception among the Corinthians who believed, “as the stomach is designed for food, the private parts are created for sexual experience.

19 Event Planning Quotes to Inspire EventProfs to Conquer Roadblocks

Event Planning QuotesPlanning an event or conference is never easy. The process can be long and, often, a little bumpy as planners attempt to balance brand and sponsor interests, attendee must-haves and other high-value integrations. All of this is par for the course when you’re an event professional — it’s part of the good, the bad and the ugly of organizing successful programming, no matter how long you’ve been in business.
And when you need a little pick-me-up? Check out these great quotes from industry pros and, even, experts in all things planning. No doubt these reminders will inspire you even on your toughest days.

ON PLANNING

1. “Plans are nothing. Planning is everything.” – Albert Einstein
Is there anything more critical to an event planner’s process than planning, planning and planning some more? Having big ideas is great, but they’re nothing without rolling your sleeves up and getting down to the actual planning that goes into any big event or program. And, at the end of the day, that’s everything.
2. “To achieve great things, two things are needed: a plan and not quite enough time.” – Leonard Bernstein
As an event professional you, likely, never feel like there’s enough time — but maybe that’s a good thing! Without the end in sight (and a little healthy anxiety surrounding that end) it’s easy to get complacent or push things off. But when the event is looming you’ve got to go, go, go — and amidst the stress, the chaos and the anticipation, the magic happens.
3. “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” – Abraham Lincoln
If you’re not an event pro it’s easy to think these massive programs just happen. But the experts know that’s far from the truth. Don’t feel pressured to push ahead if you haven’t laid the right groundwork yet. You know what needs to happen to pull off a successful event — lots of planning. Spend the time getting your ducks in a row to ensure that, when event day comes, you’re 100% prepared and ready for action.
4. “If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.” – Yogi Berra
Events don’t just happen. Don’t just focus on the here and now but, instead, have an overarching view of your end goal. By following the path you’ll likely end up exactly where you want to be — or, at least, close enough! Without those self-imposed marching orders you’ll waste time and could even land pretty far from your end goal — never good in planning.
5. “It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
You’ve likely had clients or partners who muse on and on about the nice-to-haves — but how often do they same colleagues and associates not take the steps necessary to get it all done? It’s great to dream big and to wish for incredible programming, speakers, attendees and even food, but what actions are you really taking to achieve it? Stop dreaming and start doing!
6. “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
And those things you do wish for? Make them happen! Set a goal, make a plan and get to it. Any great event planner is a pro in this arena!
7. “Let our advance worrying become advance thinking and planning.” – Winston Churchill
It’s easy to get caught up in event minutiae when you’re in prep mode — and that means the anxiety, worry and stress that comes with it. But instead of letting yourself slip into pre-event panic mode, focus on what you can control — namely, the forethought and the planning that, ultimately, leads to a fantastic end result.

ON EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED

8. “So live life with your eyes wide open so you can embrace unexpected moments because you never know when you will be inspired.” – David Tutera, celebrity wedding planner
Inspiration can come in countless forms — and, often, when you least expect it. While planning is key, it’s also important to roll with the punches during the planning and execution of any event. Not only can you, simply, not control everything (we’re looking at you, weather!) but often the most exciting and most memorable moments emerge from those unplanned experiences.
9. “Just because you have planned something doesn’t mean it is going to happen.” – Jung Lee, celebrity event planner/producer
Any event pro knows anything can happen at any time, especially when you’re in “go mode.” Take a breath and focus on solutions. Your careful planning will no doubt pay off when missteps happen — you’ll know who to call, how to react and the pieces that have to come together now to right the course. And that’s the mark of a true event pro.
10. “Some people look for a beautiful place. Others make a place beautiful.” – Hazrat Inavat Khan, Sufi teacher
Event pros can stare at a space, a theme or a concept and see the possibilities. They know that, with some hard work and strategic thinking they can take the everyday or the basic crumb of an idea and transform it into something extraordinary. It may take time and will no doubt take patience but, at the end of the day, the end result will make it 100% worth it.
11. “If Plan A didn’t work the alphabet has 25 more letters. Stay cool.” – Unknown
Sometimes even the best planning, preparation and triple checking isn’t enough to keep your plan A on course. But remember, it’s OK! Move to plan B (or C, D, E…) and keep moving forward. Often the only person who notices a shift in plans is you.
12. “When life puts you in tough situations don’t think ‘why me’ think ‘try me.'” – Unknown
The best event planners are always up for a challenge. When hurdles inevitably pop up it’s critical to keep moving forward. Pros know to always expect a few roadblocks. But, instead of panicking, they push ahead and give that challenge a run for its money!

ON THE END RESULTS

13. “Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” ― Warren Buffett
It’s hard to see how incredible the fruits of your labor will be sometimes, especially when you’re elbow-deep in planning mode. But, remember, every event comes to an end and, thanks to your tireless planning, passion and expertise it will no doubt be one to remember. Because you’ve laid the groundwork and continuously focused on the end goal, countless people and brands can reap the benefits during and after the event — and that’s something to be proud of.
14. “Good fortune is what happens when opportunity meets with planning.” – Thomas Edison
A great event isn’t luck or timing. A great event is a great event professional who’s spent countless hours planning, re-planning and understanding the ins and outs of this exciting program. It’s the opportunity to execute paired with the careful planning and strategic thinking — two hallmarks of eventprofs!
15. “[G]ood planning I’ve always thought is in the details…Plan it out, make it interesting, and you’re sure to pull it off!” – Eddie Ross, author/editor and producer
At the end of the day attendees, sponsors and partners are, simply, looking for great content, great programming and an overall great time. Focus on the details and make it interesting and, no doubt, they’ll walk away with a positive impression — and, at the end of the day, isn’t that your true goal?
16. “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” – Rachel Mueller-Lust, event planner
How many times have you truly believed you couldn’t pull it off? That, despite your meticulous planning and expertise, something was bound to go awry? And then the event happens and it’s perfect. The impossible becomes possible…the moment it’s over!
17. “Good plans shape good decisions. That’s why good planning helps to make elusive dreams come true.” – Geoffrey Fisher
The moment you see the full picture — the excited attendees, the satisfied sponsors, the engaged speakers and the incredible decor, food and experiences — is the moment you see all of your planning and insights come together. And it’s then that those wild dreams really do come true!
18. “There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.” – Douglas H. Everett
Event planners are dreamers and doers — a powerful combination! By bridging reality with that dream world, you pull of some of the moment memorable moments and lofty experiences for countless people year after year. You’re what connects the dream world to the real world — the event world.
19. “If you can’t stop thinking about it, don’t stop working for it.” – Unknown
For the best event planners, “good enough” is never enough. If there’s some little detail nagging at you — a detail you know would be the difference between good and great — dig in and get it done. You’ll never be sorry you pushed yourself, but might have regrets that you didn’t.

Now It’s Your Turn

12 Real Signs of True Love in a Relationship

12 Real Signs of True Love in a Relationship

12 Real Signs Of True Love In A Relationship

True love is the true definition of a perfect romance. But it’s not easy to find. Do you see these 12 signs of true love in your own relationship? By Elizabeth Arthur

True love isn’t felt in a heartbeat or in a second glance.
True love takes time to take shape.
And contrary to popular belief, love at first sight isn’t really love at all.
In fact, love at first sight is nothing but an infatuation.
It’s a strong surge of romantic and sexual emotions that overwhelm you.
Before you wonder what true love is all about and what the signs of true love really are, you need to understand that it’s very important to take things slow in a relationship if you want to ensure its success.
[Read: 10 reasons why saying ‘I love you’ too soon sucks]
When you first start dating someone or fall for someone at first sight, what you experience isn’t love.
As much as you feel like you’re head over heels in love, you really aren’t.
You’re just experiencing the first stage of love, a small part in the stages of love known as the infatuation stage.
[Read: The 9 stages of love all couples go through]
What is true love then?
True love, ironically, can’t be defined.
It’s the kind of love many of us chase after, but few truly find or realize it until it’s too late. So what is true love really?
True love is the kind of love and affection you have for someone that isn’t bound by the laws of human behavior. Human behavior is simple to understand. When someone hurts you, you get angry with them. When someone gets lucky or gets a better job, you get jealous of them. And when someone shatters your ego or humiliates you, you want your revenge. This is human behavior, because these traits are engrained within us.
But when you experience true love with someone, your primal instincts and behavior change only towards this person. True love transcends typical human behavior. It makes you a better human being towards a special someone. [Read: A true story of unconditional love]
When does one experience true love?
True love takes time to bloom. What you experience in the first year or so of a relationship is infatuation and sexual attraction.
As the bursts of infatuation start to fade with the first few arguments and the first few misunderstandings, that’s when love starts to enter the picture. And this is where most couples start to drift away emotionally, or even end up breaking up because of incompatibilities.
If you’re in a relationship where both of you truly understand each other and feel compatible with each other, and most importantly, love each other, chances are, you’re experiencing true love already. [Read: 50 questions to test your compatibility in the relationship]
Experiencing true love in your life
Is true love a once in a lifetime experience? Not really. You can experience them many times over, and with many people at the same time. You can experience true love with your spouse or your lover, your children and any other person you’re attached to in your life.
But true love too, can fade with time. For most of us, our first love is the first time we would have experienced the purest form of true love. We aren’t afraid to let this special someone into our heart and we aren’t afraid to experience heartbreak because we still don’t know what heartbreak feels like. We’re fearless in love and we love passionately with all our heart. [Read: How to know if you’re in love in the infatuation stage]
But when the first romance dies, the true love we had for our first partner too eventually fades, even if it takes years and several new relationships to overcome. And as we enter more relationships, most of us split into two groups. One that believes in true romantic love and the other group that convinces itself that true love doesn’t exist. The kind of relationships you’ve had in your lifetime can play a big part in your understanding of, and expectations from, true love.
And if you’re wondering whether true love and romantic love are the same, it really isn’t, even though we almost always associate true love with romantic love. True love is love in its purest form, while romantic love needs sexual attraction to stay alive. [Read: 25 rules you need to know to have a perfect relationship]
True love can’t be forced
True love has to be experienced naturally and wholeheartedly. You can’t fake true love no matter how hard you try. If a couple fails to pass the test of compatibility in their infatuation stage, it’s pretty hard for both of them to ever experience true love.
On the other hand, if both partners can understand each other and relate to each other, they’ll start to love each other’s company and start to become inseparable. And eventually, this bond will turn into a pure and selfless love that we call true love. [Read: How to stay in love forever and keep love alive in your romance]
The 12 signs of true love in a perfect romance
True love may be hard to define, but the signs to read true love can be clearly seen in every perfect loving relationship.
If you’re in a relationship and want to know if you’re experiencing the purest form of love, use these 12 signs of true love to find out for yourself.
#1 Give and take in love. You give to the relationship wholeheartedly, without any desire or expectations of getting something back in return from your partner to justify your actions.
#2 Pure happiness. Just watching this special person smile or laugh out loud fills you with intense happiness, even if you’re suffering or having a hard day.
#3 Pain and anger. You get terribly hurt when your lover upsets you, but their actions never anger you. You may get annoyed or frustrated now and then momentarily, but you just can’t stay mad at them for long because staying mad or giving them the silent treatment hurts you more. [Read: The effective way to give someone the silent treatment in a relationship]
#4 Sacrifices. You make sacrifices for their happiness or wellbeing, even if they may never realize it.
#5 The right effort. You go to great lengths and make an effort to improve the relationship, and play a conscious part in trying to please your partner and make them feel loved and special.
#6 You can’t ever hurt them. When you’re truly in love with someone, you can’t even imagine hurting them, emotionally or physically. Payback is a strong human instinct, but true love makes you completely selfless. [Read: 15 subtle and yet shocking signs of a controlling partner]
#7 You keep your promises. When you make a promise to them, you stick to your word even if this person will never find out if you broke their promise. When you experience true love, your moral conscience becomes very strong when it comes to this one special person.
#8 We. In a perfect relationship, it’s good to have your own space to grow as individuals. But at the same time, if you truly love your partner, you’d see them as a part of your life. When you think of your future, you can’t help but see them by your side. [Read: How to give space in a relationship and come closer]
#9 You share their burden. And you do that even if you don’t really have to. You can’t bear to see this special someone suffering. If they’re dealing with some issue, you’re always willing to offer them a helping hand even when you have your own difficulties to look into.
#10 Pride and jealousy. You beam with pride when they achieve something, even if it’s the same thing you failed at. You may get jealous of a friend who outdid you, but when you love someone, jealousy never enters the picture.
#11 Suffering. You’d be willing to suffer, just to see them happy.
#12 Their perspective. Everything you do, you keep your lover in mind and think from their perspective, be it about planning a surprise party or hanging out with your own friends after work. You don’t ever want to hurt your lover, so you always think from their point of view before making any decision that involves them in any way.
Are you experiencing true love?
If you’re in a relationship and aren’t experiencing these true love signs, don’t fret. Perhaps, your relationship hasn’t reached the state of emotional maturity that surpasses physical attraction or the stage of infatuation.
Take your time and test the waters. You can’t fall in love with someone by forcing yourself into the relationship. If it’s not working out, try to understand each other better. And if nothing you do can bring happiness back into love, perhaps both of you would be better off dating other people. [Read: 25 things to talk about to create a truly happy relationship]
But at the same time, if both of you are already happy in the relationship, don’t try to change anything about it. Sometimes, selfless and unconditional love takes time to materialize. Remember, you can’t push yourself into the next stage in love unless both of you are ready for it.
As long as your lover and you are happy and understand each other, you’re already experiencing the perfect kind of love!
[Read: 10 types of love you’ll experience in your lifetime]
Use these 12 signs of true love to understand what true selfless love really means. And even if you’re not there yet, don’t worry about it. It’s only a matter of time before a happy romance goes the true love way!

The World Is Going To End In September ‘When Earth Collides With ‘Planet X’

The World Is Going To End In September ‘When Earth Collides With ‘Planet X’

Don’t make plans for October as according to the latest conspiracy theory, the world is going to end.
Astronomer and conspiracy theorist David Meade believes the end of human existence will be upon us in just a few weeks, after two huge events in the cosmos collide.
First will come the Great American Total Solar Eclipse on August 21 when the Moon will cover the sun causing temperatures to plummet and half the planet falling into sudden darkness. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he claims the eclipse will coincide with a huge planet – called Planet X or Nibiru – smashing into and destroying the earth.
NASA have discovered 10 new planets
Will Earth be destroyed?
Meade, who is the leading expert on the Planet X theory and even wrote a book about it called Planet X – The 2017 Arrival, claims the planet will first appear in September and then completely destroy it by crashing into it in October.
He claimed the planet isn’t visible yet as it’s approaching from above the South Pole, which “This makes observations difficult – unless you’re flying at a high altitude over South America with an excellent camera.”
Japan, Argentina, Indonesia and Peru have all experienced earthquakes in recent weeks and according to Meade it’s a sign the death planet is already having an effect on the earth.
Planet X is coming for us
The prediction isn’t just based on scientific fact, Meade claims in the Bible the Book of Revelation also points to a September date.
This is what he had to say about it: “During this time frame, on September 23, 2017, the moon appears under the feet of the Constellation Virgo.
“The Sun appears to precisely clothe Virgo…Jupiter is birthed on September 9, 2017.
“The 12 stars at that date include the nine stars of Leo, and the three planetary alignments of Mercury, Venus and Mars – which combine to make a count of 12 stars on the head of Virgo.
“Thus the constellations Virgo, Leo and Serpens-Ophiuchus represent a unique once-in-a-century sign exactly as depicted in the 12th chapter of Revelation. This is our time marker.”

10 INTERESTING AND AMAZING FACTS ABOUT TRUE LOVE

10 INTERESTING AND AMAZING FACTS ABOUT TRUE LOVE

10 INTERESTING AND AMAZING FACTS ABOUT TRUE LOVE
10 Interesting And Amazing Facts About True Love
“She loved that man madly, but in a delirious way of some kind; there was never any mooching or mincing around, just talk and a very deep companionship that none of us would ever be able to fathom. Something curiously unsympathetic and cold between them was really a form of humour by which they communicated their own set of subtle variations.”
     – Jack Kerouac
Love is hard to explain. Just like the great American writer Jack Kerouac struggled to understand the love that existed between two of his best friends, so many of us struggle to understand love at all.
Despite its immense power, and despite how it bewitches us with its spell and makes us do things we never dreamed we would do, love is abstract. It can’t be seen but, boy, can it be felt.
Falling in love is so exciting. But have you ever stopped to consider love on a more scientific plane? Let’s take a look at 10 interesting and amazing facts about love that will blow your mind.
True Love Is As Addictive As Nicotine Or Cocaine
During the initial, thrilling stage of attraction a chemical is released in your brain called dopamine, or what some call the “happy hormone.” The same chemical is also released when people use nicotine or cocaine.
The rush of pleasure it gives in drug users is so intense that it makes them addicted to the feeling, and thus to the drug.
True love is the same. The feelings we feel when we first make that emotional connection with someone are so intense that we become addicted to it and want more.
I suppose this is why many of us can’t function whenever we’re apart from our lover for a while. We’re withdrawing.
Some Animals Are Monogamous
You might think male house flies are Don Juans who fly from woman to woman, while you could be forgiven for thinking dingos aren’t interested in settling down.
But the truth is that there are plenty of animals who are just as monogamous as us humans.
Swans, wolves, black vultures and even termites are known to find mates that they keep their whole lives.
Aww. See, that’s how powerful true love is. When you’re in love with a fellow termite, another termite just isn’t going to be able to pull you away, no matter how attractive they are.
(Did I just write that?)
We Are Attracted To People With A Different Immune System
Not only are we attracted to people with a different immune system, but we can also sense when someone has a different immune system to us. Bizarre? Totally.
It was a researcher called Claude Wedekind of the University of Switzerland who came across this unusual finding. Claude asked women to smell the unwashed t-shirts of different men. Oddly enough, women preferred the small of a man’s t-shirt who had a totally different immune system to hers.
Apparently the same conclusion has also been found in research with rodents.

True love really does work in some mysterious ways.
It Takes Only Four Minutes To Decide If This Is A Person You Could Fall In Love With
If you think you’ve just met the One, either in a bar, on a date or elsewhere, scientists say that you only have four minutes to make a lasting impression on them.
It’s all to do with your tone, your body language, as well as how you hold yourself.
Love Can Make You Crazy
Okay, so you already know that love can make you crazy. Perhaps you drove yourself insane when your first lover didn’t reply to a text for 6 hours, or maybe you couldn’t get a man off your mind so much that you actually failed an exam one time.
But it has been scientifically proven that love really can make you crazy.
Like, really crazy.
To have an obsessive compulsive disorder about something, a person needs to have a certain level of serotonin activated. The same levels that cause OCD, can also cause a serious infatuation with another person.
This is most likely why we focus so much on just that one person when we fall in love. All of a sudden, nothing else matters and we hate it when someone else texts us when we’re waiting for our beau to get in touch!
When You Cuddle, You Release Natural Painkillers
When you cuddle your lover, your body activates an actual cuddle hormone called oxytocin. This hormone is found in three different organs: The brain, testicles and ovaries, and helps you both to bond.
Oxytocin is actually a natural painkiller that soothes headaches. For this reason, it’s well worth cuddling your lover as much as possible.
If Love Wasn’t Blind, Relationships Wouldn’t Last
Have you ever been in love with someone your friends and family told you wasn’t right for you?
“Your blind to their failings!” they might have told you.
But despite their warnings, you pressed ahead, got married and had kids.
“Love really is blind,” your friends lamented afterwards.
But according to scientists, love has to be blind so that we have long-lasting relationships. If we all threw in the towel because of one little fault or a mistake, we’d never get beyond first date.
The Chase Is Exciting
Wouldn’t it be boring if we met a new lover each week who was super submissive and said Yes to everything instantly?
Life would be easier, but much less thrilling.
“The chase” is exciting. Called the Romeo and Juliet, humans are wired to warm to situations where obstructions mean you have to work harder to win the heart of another.
We Are Attracted To People Who Look Like One Of Our Parents
It sounds really creepy, but according to research we are attracted to people who look (or at least smell) like one of our parents. Weird, huh?
Naturally, you’re not going to say to someone: “I was attracted to you because you look like my dad,” and the truth is that it probably never crossed your mind. But on an unconscious level, you have a desire to find a mate who reminds you of your parent(s).
Strange – but true.
But definitely strange.
Love Does Make Things Sweeter
Ever heard the saying that love makes life sweeter? Well, it definitely makes your food taste sweeter.
According to studies, when you eat and think about love at the same time, your food tastes better.
Think of jealousy, and it’ll taste worse. Not cool.
Stay happy!

I decided to put an end to these incessant coups - ex-President

Obasanjo: I decided to put an end to these incessant coups - ex-President

Obasanjo

In 1999, Obasanjo retired at least 93 military officers who had served as state governors/administrators and ministers, upon his assumption of office.

Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo has said he ended incessant coups in Nigeria because it was a destructive and destabilising practice.

Obasanjo said his decision to retire military officers who were politically exposed brought about an end to incessant coups in the country.
In 1999, Obasanjo retired at least 93 military officers who had served as state governors/administrators and ministers, upon his assumption of office.
He said: “A coup is punishable by death only if it fails, it puts the plotter in the state house if it succeeds.”
“It was a destructive and destabilising practice, wasteful for the military itself, and undermining in terms of discipline, good order and military conduct. A junior officer takes a gun and looks at his political boss and senior officers through its sights, bumps them off and puts himself in the state house.
“On assuming office as president, I decided to put an end to these incessant coups. I asked the military to submit the list of all officers who had either participated in coups in the past or benefited in the dividends of coups by being appointed to political office as governors or ministers.
“Not knowing what the list was meant for, the military faithfully compiled it and submitted to me as the commander-in-chief and chairman of council of each of the arms of service. 93 officers in all were given six hours’ notice of retirement on a Friday, and ordered not to spend the Friday night in uniform or in barracks to prevent adverse reaction.
“The following Monday, the service council met to ratify the retirement of all the officers. From my vantage position and background as a battle-tested and war-victorious general, I knew that an officer out of uniform and barracks is like a fish out of water, and their power and influence would be greatly diminished.
“The retirement of these 93 officers all in one day was salutary. It meant that taking part in a coup or benefitting from one could catch up with you, no matter how long it would take, and for as long as you are alive.
“The idea was not to punish them for life but to exclude them from positions in the military where they could be coup planners, coup plotters, coup executors or coup beneficiaries.
“And once an officer has tasted the trappings of a political life, of living in a government house, with free food and so on, he would easily look for excuses to want more if he is in a position to make it happen.”
Obasanjo, a retired Army general and former military Head of State, was elected President of the country in 1999 under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party and governed for eight years.

Daily Bible Reading

Ruth 3:1-18

Then Na'omi her mother-in-law said to her, "My daughter, should I not seek a home for you, that it may be well with you? Now is not Bo'az our kinsman, with whose maidens you were? See, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor. Wash therefore and anoint yourself, and put on your best clothes and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking. But when he lies down, observe the place where he lies; then, go and uncover his feet and lie down; and he will tell you what to do." And she replied, "All that you say I will do." So she went down to the threshing floor and did just as her mother-in-law had told her. And when Bo'az had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain. Then she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and lay down. At midnight the man was startled, and turned over, and behold, a woman lay at his feet! He said, "Who are you?" And she answered, "I am Ruth, your maidservant; spread your skirt over your maidservant, for you are next of kin." And he said, "May you be blessed by the LORD, my daughter; you have made this last kindness greater than the first, in that you have not gone after young men, whether poor or rich. And now, my daughter, do not fear, I will do for you all that you ask, for all my fellow townsmen know that you are a woman of worth. And now it is true that I am a near kinsman, yet there is a kinsman nearer than I. Remain this night, and in the morning, if he will do the part of the next of kin for you, well; let him do it; but if he is not willing to do the part of the next of kin for you, then, as the LORD lives, I will do the part of the next of kin for you. Lie down until the morning." So she lay at his feet until the morning, but arose before one could recognize another; and he said, "Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor." And he said, "Bring the mantle you are wearing and hold it out." So she held it, and he measured out six measures of barley, and laid it upon her; then she went into the city. And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, "How did you fare, my daughter?" Then she told her all that the man had done for her, saying, "These six measures of barley he gave to me, for he said, 'You must not go back empty-handed to your mother-in-law.'" She replied, "Wait, my daughter, until you learn how the matter turns out, for the man will not rest, but will settle the matter today."

WORD FOR THE DAY: Zero-Based Gratitude

Zero-Based Gratitude

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.
- Albert Einstein

Zero-Based Gratitude

Perhaps you have heard of zero-based budgeting as a technique for governments, businesses, and occasionally individuals. Zero-based budgeting is in contrast to traditional incremental budgeting. In incremental budgeting, one starts with the budget for the last year, or other period, and prepares a budget for the next period based on the budget for the last period - incorporating whatever increases, or very occasionally decreases, are deemed appropriate.

Zero-based budgeting begins with a base-line of no expenditures, rather than the base-line of last year's expenditures. Each and every proposed expense must be justified on its own merits rather that falling back on the argument that it was in the last year's budget, and that everybody expects and demands it.

Most people's gratitude is incremental gratitude. If they receive a raise, a bigger house, a third car, a new love interest, or a healthy new baby, they are grateful. If they lose their job, are forced to downsize, have a tiff with their spouse, or have an illness in the family, they are disappointed and angry. Why disappointed and angry? Because they have not been blessed with as much today as they were yesterday.

Suppose our gratitude could be zero-based gratitude. With zero-based gratitude, we would be grateful for everything we had each day - regardless of whether it was more or less than yesterday. With zero-based gratitude, I can be grateful for a warm comfortable one-bedroom apartment, even if I had a four bedroom house yesterday. I can be grateful for being able to walk, even if I could run yesterday. I can be grateful for all the people, the love, the food, the shelter, the services, the health, that I am blessed with today, regardless of what I had yesterday. With zero-based gratitude, I can be grateful each day for the gift of life itself.

WORD FOR THE DAY: Stop Anger Before It Stops You - 7 Secrets

Stop Anger Before It Stops You - 7 Secrets
- jonathan lockwood huie

Being angry is as close as a human being can come to experiencing hell on earth.
- jonathan lockwood huie
Anger is something that each one of us has experienced - some of us only occasionally, some almost daily. Can we eliminate all anger? Probably not. We will always have expectations, and those expectations will often be unmet. Disappointment is the principle cause of anger. When we are disappointed, we look for someone to blame. Declaring someone to be at fault is the nature of anger. Anger is always directed at someone - possibly God or the non-specific they, but some animate entity.
You've told yourself a hundred times that you aren't going to get angry - really angry - ever again, but wham, you start to feel that telltale heat, locked shoulders, clenched jaw, shallow breathing. Someone has just done something really awful and you are angry at them. What now?
Here are my 7 Secrets to Stop Anger before It Stops You:
1. Recognize when you are angry: It may not immediately occur to you that you are angry. You know that you have been wronged, and you can see everyone around you take a step back, but especially if you are really angry, it may take a while to gain the clarity to acknowledge your anger. Anger clouds perception and thinking, so make a special effort to spot it early and put it into words, "I am angry."
2. Breathe deeply: Concentrate on taking slow deep breaths. Sometimes this is all it takes to break out of anger and gain clarity on the issue. At other times, breathing deeply is just a beginning, but it paves the way for the rest of the secrets.
3. Focus your anger: Get clear what you are angry about and who you are angry at. Talk to yourself, "I am angry at Joe because he ..." Don't let your anger expand onto innocent bystanders, especially those trying to help calm you down. Don't refocus your anger onto everything that Joe has ever done or failed to do.
4. Remember that you are in charge: Anger is an expression of frustration and helplessness. Remember that you always have options - you can design your own life. No one can steal your happiness - unless you let them.
5. Look for the silver lining: There is a silver lining to every disappointment. Your boss fired you and you are furious. Probably it was a blessing. Now you have the opportunity to get a better job that you really enjoy.
6. Consider forgiveness: Angry and happy don't mix. Flush out the angry, and the happy has a place to put down roots. Forgive everyone for everything in order to give anger and resentment a chance to fade. Forgive and you can become happy. Forgiving is not a gift to someone else - Forgiving is our gift to ourselves - a great gift - the gift of happiness.
7. Accept that Life is NOT "Supposed to be Fair": Know that there is no single way that life is "supposed" to be. Demanding that life meet our expectations is a sure fire recipe for a miserable existence. Life is a game with no rules. Life just happens to us regardless of our best intentions. To choose happiness, be open to receiving whatever life throws at you - with Gratitude. Have NO Expectations of life.
