Deadly Accidents! – Harare, Zimbabwe – Day 2

Deadly Accidents! – Harare, Zimbabwe – Day 2

Dear Mission Partners,
Tonight, on our way home from the meeting, we passed three terrible accidents. An epidemic of drunk driving causes many deadly crashes here. I’ve never seen anything like it. As we drove past one accident, a dead body was lying face down on the road in a jumble of shattered glass. At another scene, body parts were strewn across the street. I thought of the families that would be grieving. I wondered about the souls of those who had died. The fragility of life, the brokenness of our world, and an urgent need to preach the Gospel gripped my heart as we drove. These grisly sights stood in stark contrast to the beautiful scene that had unfolded minutes earlier at the crusade field, where many thousands of people received Jesus as their savior and many wonderful miracles happened! Demoniacs were delivered, a woman bent over for three years stood upright for the first time, growths disappeared and much more. At the same time, not far from our meeting, Satan was claiming yet another life. These are the parallel realities that we experience as Christians. We preach the Gospel in the middle of a world torn apart by death, pain, and sin. We bring light right into the midst of the darkness and offer the Kingdom of Heaven at the gates of hell. This is where the rubber meets the road. The world needs Jesus, and time is very short. This is why we are here. This is why we go. This is why we preach the Gospel. Thank you for continuing to pray for us.

A Witchdoctor Receives Jesus! – Harare, Zimbabwe – Final Day

A Witchdoctor Receives Jesus! – Harare, Zimbabwe – Final Day

Dear Mission Partners,
Our Gospel Crusade has just come to an end here in Harare, Zimbabwe. Despite the bitter cold weather, the attendance almost doubled over last night! The government minister of religion attended two of the evening meetings this week. It is an epic event in this region that has gotten lots of attention. The services are being broadcasted on the radio. It seems everyone has heard of what is going on.
As I was leaving the meeting tonight, a young man approached me and said, “I am an evangelist. With your permission, I would like to start preaching all your sermons.” I was thrilled. I pray the Lord would raise up many evangelists here in Zimbabwe and that the work that began here this week will continue through the local ministries.
I have had a couple of wonderful guest ministers with me this week. Rev. John Wilds led us in wonderfully anointed worship and Evangelist Tamryn Klintworth both spoke in the Fire Conference and ministered to the sick last night. They were a great blessing.
Tonight, in the final meeting, many thousands accepted Christ and many wonderful miracles took place including several cripples and paralytics that were totally healed. The miracles were far too many to mention.
One of the local leaders brought his father to me last night for prayer. He was crippled. I prayed for him and Jesus touched him. Today, the son told me that his father is actually a local witchdoctor. He was healed, but still had not accepted Christ. I asked him to bring the father back tonight so I could speak with him. I had the chance to pray with him to receive Jesus one-on-one at the end of the meeting. What a wonderful testimony. A local witchdoctor healed and saved – one of the many thousands of lives touched this week.
Our next Gospel Crusade will be in Lagos, Nigeria. It is Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke’s “Farewell Crusade” in Africa. We are expecting a massive attendance, and I am believing that it will be the beginning of a whole new season of super massive crusades in West Africa. Please pray for that event. There is so much work to be done.
Thank you for praying for us and supporting us. Heaven is rejoicing.
Yours in the Gospel,

How Nigerians get to overseas illegally

How Nigerians get to overseas illegally

Apart from marriage scams, Nigerians have found other ways to beat the system.

Nothing lasts forever. Nigerians with fake papers are routinely deported play Nothing lasts forever. Nigerians with fake papers are routinely deported
(Africa Telescope Mag )

Nigerians are notorious for doing whatever it takes to go abroad.

This usually means illegal ways to get into Europe or North America or generally anywhere that is considered better than home.
The poor state of infrastructures and a high cost of living have made many Nigerians travel to other parts of the world to start all over again. The economic hardships of the 80s and 90s saw an exodus of Nigerians leave the country in a massive brain drain.

(Simad )

Embassies of nations like the United Kingdom and the United States of America where choked full with people who wanted to leave Nigeria for a better future. This led to an unpredictable problem of demand being greater than supply.
Even with the US visa lottery scheme of the 90s, there were too many people who wanted the visa to a country in Europe or even in Asia. With so much demand and little supply, Nigerians started coming up with schemes to beat the system.
One of the most popular schemes is for young Nigerian men to marry white women (usually old women) for immigration papers and visas. This racket still goes on till today. Once the guy gets abroad he swindles his wife and abandons her with his papers intact.

It's a love swindle that is very vibrant. White women still fall for the scam of bagging themselves a black lover. Most times, they end up being used.
There are other ways Nigerians scam their way abroad. Below is a list of three other popular methods;

1) Visa lottery marriage scam

(Morocco World News )

The syndicates who specialize in getting fake papers for people to travel use this method. It involves pairing the desperate party with legitimate winners of the US visa lottery as a couple. If they are successful they fly abroad as man and wife only to part ways later on.

2) Smuggling overseas

Two Nigerians, Blessing and a companion in Italy who were smuggled into the country play Two Nigerians, Blessing and a companion in Italy who were smuggled into the country
(Alex Majoli / Magnum for The New Yorker)

This is the most dangerous way of getting abroad illegally. It involves paying money to a smuggling ring to take you on the dangerous journey of making it to Spain in Europe. This involves the hellish journey of passing the Libyan desert where many people have died. This method is so dangerous that it is certainly not all people will make it. If you are lucky enough to make it, you have to deal with the ocean to make it into Spain. Most African migrants drown in this journey but once you make it to Spain you are finally in Europe.

3) Use another person's passport

Nigeria Passport play Nigeria Passport
(Premium Times)

This is another of going abroad illegally method. The fake owner of the passport hijacks the identity of the original owner to travel aboard. This scam is getting less popular due to the introduction of electronic passports.

There are Nigerian men who marry women just to get visas and immigration papers.

It's a fairly common sight at Ikoyi registry.

We have seen photos of young Nigerian men getting married to white women (usually older). These photos, whenever they pop up online, brings out a general reaction from Nigerians.
The reaction is always one of amusement. You see, we all know what is going on. When a young man exchanges marital vows with a white lady, he is most likely pulling a scam. He is in it for money and the papers and not for love.

This scam has been on since Nigerian men sought for greener pastures in the golden streets of Europe and America. The hook of this scam is to get in contact with a white woman (preferably older). These days this is done online via several dating websites.
The second step is to make her fun in love with you. The third thing to do after she is head over heels for you is to propose. This is when you see these women fly into Nigeria and get married to a young Nigerian hustler at a wedding registry.

A few days after tying the knot, the newly wedded couple fly out of the country to start a new life. When they get overseas, London, Seattle, Madrid or wherever, our dear Naija boy flips the script on his naive bride.

"I met my Nigerian husband in 2008 and brought him here on a K-1 visa in 2009. I thought he loved me by all the sweet words he said, the hundreds of hours on the phone and webcam, messenger....." wrote an American woman who goes by the username Rannk 1 on the forum section of the website Visa Journey.
In 2014, she revealed how she was duped by her Nigerian husband.
"He was on several sites. I was not aware of this until three months later. website subscriptions. He was on several sites. I was not aware of this until three months later" she wrote on the forum.
After chatting up women on numerous dating websites, her Nigerian husband told her he was leaving her on Christmas Eve. "He has ruined my life and my kids' lives. He sucked $15,000 from me overall, he took my youth and beauty, he damaged my relationship with my family, I lost my best friend, he took away all my hope and happiness in life. I regret ever meeting him!!!!" ranted the American lady.
This is a fairly common style of operation for Naija guy who is into marriage visa scams.
In 2015, a British woman Deana Charles told The Sun UK how she was swindled by her Nigerian husband. "He told me he’d only married me for a visa. It explained why he’d been so keen to get me pregnant, the authorities would find it harder to deport him" she revealed.

It seems nothing will stop some of us from getting that Green Card or visa. What's love when you have the chance to leave Nigeria and reside in Europe or America?
In America, some male African-Americans get married to white women because it is a status symbol. For Nigerian men, it is just another way to make it to the promise land.
All is fair in love and visas.

Lifestyle Asking yourself these 4 questions will lead to a longer, more meaningful life

Lifestyle Asking yourself these 4 questions will lead to a longer, more meaningful life

Dan Buettner is a National Geographic Explorer and the author of "The Blue Zones of Happiness: Lessons from the World’s Happiest People." Here, he shares his insights on how to live a long and meaningful life. Following is a transcript of the video.
Dan Buettner: My name is Dan Buettner. I'm a National Geographic Explorer and the author of "Blue Zones of Happiness: Lessons From the World's Happiest People."
Only about 30% of Americans actually like their job, and that's a really important area for happiness because you spend most of your waking hours working. So, you ask yourself how do you find a job that really speaks to your passions or purpose.
And I like to think of doing an internal inventory: "What do you like to do?" "What are you good at doing?" "What allows you to live out your values?" and "What can you give back?"
And I actually have an exercise where I answer all those four questions and put a list for each. And then find where the common denominators are, and that gives you a pretty good idea of what your purpose or as the Okinawans call what your "ikigai" is.
I first heard about ikigai in Okinawa among a group of 100-year-old women who are telling me that for them it means the reason for which I wake up in the morning.
Interestingly in Okinawa, where women live the longest in the world, there is no word for retirement. And instead, this idea of ikigai imbues people's entire adult life.
And I think it's a reminder of knowing your sense of purpose and living your sense of purpose, whether it's in your job or your social life or in your family life.
And for me, and this is an interpretation — ikigai seem more than just pursuing your passion, like golfing or knitting, but it also included an element of responsibility. Like, you get to a certain age and you can go ahead and do the job or work that fuels your flow, but you should also be thinking about giving back.
That's true ikigai.

Lifestyle Your vagina should smell and if your man doesn't like it dump him - Gynecologist

Lifestyle Your vagina should smell and if your man doesn't like it dump him - Gynecologist

A vagina takes care of itself. It is like a self cleaning oven says the renowned gynecologist
Gynaecologist at Mayo Clinic Dr Jen Gunter has raised concerns about the need for women to put a stop to the recent trends of women cleaning their vagina with cucumbers and Vicks' Vaporub.
She just did not end there but went ahead to hit out at men who complain about the natural smell of their partner's genitals which she describes as a 'form of abuse'.
According to the Canadian gynaecologist, she once dumped a boyfriend for complaining about the smell of her genitals.
'I once dated a guy who insinuated my vagina did not smell right. He was an a** in other ways too. For example, he thought my hair would be better if it were straight. Sadly I took the bait, it wasn't.
'He thought I would look better if I dressed a certain way. Again I took the bait. I just felt worse.
'When it came around to telling me how my vagina could be better it finally clicked that this is a form of control that men often use.
'Fortunately, I am an appropriately confident vagina expert and I had a light bulb moment and dumped his sorry a**.
Women should not feel ashamed and feel they have to stop buying harmful products that create artificial odours, she added.
She also explains that those harmful products upset the vagina's natural pH balance and leave you at a greater risk of infections like gonorrhoea and even HIV.
Dr Gunter went on to urge women to not fall into the same trap.
'I realize this may border on TMI [too much information], but honestly, if it happened to me I bet it has happened to other women.
'The continued proliferation of the what will they insert next, the products on drugstore shelves and the interest in these posts tell me that I'm probably right.
'If you think you have a medical condition, see a doctor. If your partner insinuates that an artificial smell is preferable to the smell of a normal vagina they are the one who has an issue.
'Telling women how they can be better is a classic way of tapping into body image issues and honestly, in my personal opinion it is a form of abuse.'
A vagina takes care of itself. Like a self-cleaning oven. However, 'a strong vaginal odour – for instance, a "fishy" smell – might be abnormal and could indicate a problem' she added.
