Tragedy: Two Female Corpers Die in Akwa

In addition to the spate of lives lost recently during the compulsory one year National Youth Service Scheme, NYSC two female corp members serving in Akwa Ibom state have lost their lives in a road accident.
The deceased corps members identified as 21-year-old Chidinma Sandra Ewelike and Lika’s untimely demise occurred while they were on their way to use the ATM from Etinan to Uyo.
The duo were in a tricycle popularly known as keke NAPEP, alongside other passengers when the unfortunate incident occurred.
In a tribute to the deceased on Facebook, Sandra’s friend, Chukwukadibia disclosed that Sandra was an only daughter and a graduate of Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. Read the emotional tribute;
“Chimma, ever since we met on the day of my matric, u became my friend & my sister. While on earth, u were my role model. With your good behaviour, charming smile, burning desire to serve God, ur humility and kind nature,u were able to maintain good relationship with everybody who came in contact with you.
Dede and I visited u on the 22nd of Dec 2016 during ur short break from NYSC, and u were full of life. It’s really painful to believe u are gone.

We spoke on the 3rd Jan 2017 and u told me on phone that u have gone back to Akwa-Ibom to complete ur NYSC.
Is this d completion of your NYSC?
When Chief called by 4am, informing us of your sudden demise, i really did not believe the terrible news until i got to your home.
I saw how people gathered in silence with hands folded. Chief was weeping for his only daughter, i saw how grief tore Lolo apart. Obinna and Dozie were speechless.
I gazed at your picture, what came to my mind was “Enyia isi ebee?” as u would always ask me weneva u see me.
Now, i am asking you “Enyia ebee ka i hapuru anyi gawa?”
Chief said u survived the accident that claimed the lives of the other 4 persons who were in the same keke with u. U were still unconcious even when he drove all the way from Umuahia to Akwa-Ibom, u did not give up. U hung on even wen all the govt hospitals they took you to were on strike. U struggled with death from 2pm to 12 am,until you finally……..
I know we have lost a rare gem bt i will not shed tears for someone who had gone to be with the Lord. I pray God to give us the fortitude to bear this irraplaceable loss.
You lived a very short but a fulfilled life and since it is the will of God to call back home, we shall not question him maka na Chineke wetara, Chineke ewerekwala, mana #Ozo_emekwala.
Rest in peace Sandra Chidimma Ewelike ( 1995-2017).

NYSC Member Dies While Returning From Night Club

NYSC Member Dies While Returning From Night Club

Charity Thilza

Charity Thilza, a 25-year-old National Youth Service Corps member,  serving  in Abuja was killed three days to the end of her National Youth Service Corps programme in Abuja.

The Borno State indigene was killed by some robbers along Wuse 2 Road while she was returning home from a nightclub in Carribean, Wuse 2, around 3am on Monday.
The ‘passing-out parade,’ which marked the completion of her one-year programme, would hold on Thursday (today). She studied Linguistics and English at the University of Maiduguri.
Naija News gatherered that Thilza and four friends, identified simply as Lola, Bisi, Pooja (an Indian) and a man had attended a show at the club, where a hip hop artiste, Chibuzor Azubuike, popularly called Phyno, performed on Sunday.
They were said to be returning home from the party in a car the following day when the robbers gave them a chase.
The assailants reportedly shot at the car repeatedly and some of the bullets pierced through the windscreen and hit Thilza, who was sitting at the back. One of the friends, Lola, was said to have also sustained gunshot injuries.
Our correspondent learnt that the robbers retreated when they noticed that the driver of the car was heading towards a police station.
Thilza’s close friend, Thlama said she was rushed to a hospital, but was rejected. She said she died on the way to another hospital that she was referred to.
Bukar said she was together with Thilza until Friday, when she (Bukar) returned to Maiduguri, Borno State, where she lives.
She said, “Phyno performed at the Carribean (the club) on Sunday. They were coming back home around 3am on Monday when they noticed that a car was trailing them. They took a detour, but  the car continued following them. The driver of their car started speeding and the robbers opened fire on the car. Unfortunately, some of the bullets hit Thilza from the back of the car.

“Five persons went for the party. One of them is a man, but I don’t know his name. I learnt Lola was also hit by the bullets and has been admitted to a hospital. The incident was reported to the police.
“Thilza lived in Zone 6, Wuse 2, and served at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Abuja. She clocked 25 years in January. Her corpse will be brought to Maiduguri on Thursday (today). Her father is late. Presently, her mother is not talking; she is very distraught. She was the first child of the family. She has four young siblings.”
Bukar said Thilza had planned to join the NSCDC after the service, adding that her death was a big loss to the family.
She said, “She was a kind and simple person. I left her and other friends in Abuja on Friday. They accompanied me to the airport when I was returning to Maiduguri. She told me she wanted to join the NSCDC.”
Friends of the deceased on Facebook have also expressed shock over her death, extending their condolences to her family.
One Monsurat Abdulrasaq wrote, “Oh, Charity! Our souls are full of pains on hearing of your unfair demise. This got to me like a swift wind. May God comfort your entire family at this tough time. May God bring you comfort. Amen.”
A colleague, Jabal Gadzama, wrote on Thilza’s timeline that they met a few days ago.
“Please, can someone explain what happened to me? I was with her last week during the biometric for our NYSC final clearance. Please, just tell me it is not true,” she said.
The spokesperson for the NYSC, Federal Capital Territory, Mrs. Abosede Aderibigbe, said the corps was making efforts to ensure the release of the corpse for burial.
She said, “The victim was our member with code number, FCT/15a/5295. She was supposed to pass out on Thursday (today). We learnt she and her friends went clubbing.
“When they were coming back around 3am in a flashy car, armed robbers trailed them. When they could not get them, they shot at the car and the bullets hit her.
“They tried rushing her to the National Hospital, Abuja, but she died on the way. The family members are in Abuja with the NYSC coordinator. The corpse is with the police. Possibly, it will be released for burial tomorrow (Thursday).”
The police spokesperson, FCT Command, ASP Anjuguri Mensah, said he was on a course and promised to send the number of his deputy to our correspondent for comments on the incident. He had, however, yet to send the number as of press time.

Meanwhile, No Official Statement has been released by the EFCC as at the time of this report.
See a touching tribute from her sister below:

Death! Why did you come into my household and take my sister away. Ifedolapo mi,whrn death came knocking at your door, why did you open for him. You left home before i finished my exam. I was really in a hurry to finish up and come home to you so we can talk and gist and gossip about everything. You told me you were on your way already and i bid you farewell and i told you to be safe and i told you i love you and you told me back. I was home alone when i heard you had malaria,i called you,i talked to you,i prayed for you, i said I'll call you back. My other sister Oyeyode Abimbola Inioluwa called me and told me to get dressed that we are going to kano because you were sick and you were transfered to general hospital where they are not attending to youand you needed someone to talk to the officials to release you so you can be taken care of. They said you were lying because you wanted to avoid parade. We left home very late at night all the way to kano state so we could just be with you and make you steady so we can come home together. My sister begged and begged the doctor on duty to refer you to teaching hospital, but they kept saying you're for the federal government so they'll have to watch you first before you were refered. They gave you an unknown injection which immediately your body reacted to, they begged for you to be taken to the teaching hospital, the doctors turned off your phone and sent your friends out. You should have held on for us to get there maybe it would have been better. We never had the agreement that you'd leave so early ifedolapo,we grew up together, ate together, fought, played,i would wear your clothes and It won't fit you still wouldn't be angry, i would come home from school and on seeing you,i would hug you and carry you up like a child because you were so light and handy. I would come into the room and whack a pillow on your head and you'll chase me and beat me. Mum will talk or say something funny and you would look at me and we'll both laugh out at mum. You would makeup for me and I'll laugh at it and mock you. You would clean my ears for me,you would wash my hair for me,you would clean my nails for me, you would clean our room always and arrange our clothes,i would sleep all day and you will be the one to do the house chores. I would mock you and say your clothes can fit my sister's five year old daughter and you'll laugh and abuse me. We would watch film together from the beginning to the end. We would plat cooking fever together, we would go out to shop together, we looked so much alike people mistake us for eachother. When we were told you gave up,i cried and prayed to God it wasn't you not until we got to the morgue and saw your lifeless body still wearing your white top and short. We shouted and shouted for you to stand up and let's start going home but you didn't even move an inch. Who will replace you in my life? Who will take your place in our lives. You are so precious i would do anything for you to wake up. I still didn't believe it until NYSC brought your dead body down home. We didn't even get to see your body in the khaki and you were buried in it. Ifedolapo,Amoke mi, NYSC killed you with their negligence and stupid student doctor that knows nothing who gave you the injection, saw how your body reacted to it and turned off your phones. May the wrath of God be upon such people and may they have unending sadness in their lives..forever. Amoke mi,i love you and you'll forever live on in our hearts. If you want to come back,i would love you to come back as my daughter too. I love you,i love you. The bed feels empty without you. Life feels worthless without you. May God forgive you of all your shortcomings and continue resting in the bossom of the Almighty till we'll meet to part no more. Adieu ifedolapo Amoke.

The Scream recovered

On May 7, 1994, Norway’s most famous painting, “The Scream” by Edvard Munch, was recovered almost three months after it was stolen from a museum in Oslo. Thefragile painting was recovered undamaged at a hotel in Asgardstrand, about 40 miles south of Oslo, police said.
The iconic 1893 painting of a waiflike figure on a bridge was stolen in only 50 seconds during a break-in on February 12, the opening day of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Two thieves broke through a window of the National Gallery, cut a wire holding the painting to the wall and left a note reading “Thousand thanks for the bad security!”
A few days after the theft, a Norwegian anti-abortion group said it could have the painting returned if Norwegian television showed an anti-abortion film. The claim turned out to be false. The government also received a $1 million ransom demand on March 3, but refused to pay it due to a lack of proof that the demand was genuine.
Eventually, police found four pieces of the painting’s frame in Nittedal, a suburb north of Oslo, and what may have been a cryptic messages that the thieves wanted to discuss a ransom. Finally, in January 1996, four men were convicted and sentenced in connection with the theft. Theyincluded Paal Enger, who had been convicted in 1988 of stealing Munch’s “The Vampire” in Oslo. Enger was sentenced this time to six-and-a-half-years in prison. He escaped while on a field trip in 1999, andwas captured 12 days later in a blond wig and dark sunglasses trying to buy a train ticket to Copenhagen.
In August 2004, another version of “The Scream” was stolen along with Munch’s “The Madonna,” this time from the Munch Museum in Oslo. Three men were convicted in connection with that theft in May 2006. Police recovered both works in August with minor marks and tears. Yet another version of “The Scream” remained in private hands and sold on May 2, 2012, for $119.9 million, becoming the most expensive work of art to sell at auction.
Munch developed an emotionally charged style that served as an important forerunner of the 20th century Expressionist movement. He painted “The Scream” as part of his “Frieze of Life” series, in which sickness, death, fear, love and melancholy are central themes. He died in January 1944 at the age of 81.

Jamb 2016 Registration Stats

I think Jamb Registration statistics is quite important. Most people take it for granted.
It shows how Jambites registered for UTME in the year being reviewed. Previous Jamb Registration Stats will let you know your competition for a course. Not much will change in 2017 Jamb.
Those highly competitive courses will likely remain so. Know your abilities and chose appropriately.
Personally, I believe if you put in the work. You will do well in any of them.
Jamb 2016 Registration statistics outlines the number of students aspiring for a particular course. 10,970 students are competing for Accounting in Unilorin, 4,338 are competing for Medicine and Surgery in Uniuyo, 4,679 are competing for Civil law in the Ahmadu Bello University. Travel Through Time or Space? Or Just an Exaggeration?

The man from Taured.

The Mysterious Tale of the Man from Taured – Evidence for Parallel Universes? Or an Embellishment?

(Read the article on one page)
The Man from Taured (sometimes referred to as the Taured Mystery or the Man without a Country ) is a story about a man who arrives at a Japanese airport from a country called Taured. Many people have claimed this story to be true, so the crux of the problem pertains to Taured. One would notice that there is no country by the name of Taured, either today or during the purported period of time when the incident took place, i.e. the 1950s. The story ends with the man disappearing (forever) a day after arriving in Japan. Moreover, all of his personal documents, such as his passport and driver’s license also (conveniently) disappeared, thus making this strange story unsolvable.

The Man’s Arrival

The story of the ‘Man from Taured’ begins quite specifically in many sources with a hot day in July 1954. On that particular day, a man was said to have arrived at Haneda Airport, known also as Tokyo International Airport. This man has been described as Caucasian looking with a beard. Whilst his primary language is said to have been French, it has been purported that he spoke Japanese and many other languages as well. So far, there is nothing extraordinary to note...

The sequence of events then differs according to which version of the story one encounters. In one version, this man hands over his passport to be stamped, and the Japanese immigration officer notices something strange. Whilst the passport looked authentic, the country where it was issued, ‘Taured’, was recognized as non-existent, either by the officer or one of his / her colleagues, indicating that the man should be taken away for interrogation. In another version, the man mentioned that he was from Taured, and when the immigration officer did not believe him, he showed him / her his passport.

Location of Taured

The next part of the story details the man trying to convince the immigration officers that Taured does indeed exist. According to the traveler, Taured was located between France and Spain, and had by then been in existence for 1000 years.
When shown a map, the man pointed to the area occupied by the Principality of Andorra, and was puzzled as to why his country was called Andorra on the map. Both sides refused to give in – the Japanese officers insisted that Taured did not exist, and the traveler argued otherwise.

Vanished!

Eventually, the man was held by the officers, as they were suspicious that he might be some kind of criminal. They brought him to a nearby hotel for the night, whilst they conducted their investigation. To ensure that the man did not escape during the night, two guards were placed outside his room. The next morning, when the officers went to the man’s room, they realized that he had simply vanished, as there were no signs of his escape. Additionally, all of his personal documents, which may serve as evidence for the story’s validity, had apparently disappeared as well.

Travel Through Time or Space? Or Just an Exaggeration?

One of the most notable explanations for this incident is that the man from Taured had somehow passed through a parallel dimension by accident, and ended up at Haneda Airport. It has been suggested that, based on this explanation, there is a parallel earth which is similar to ours with the exception that the locations called Andorra here is known as Taured over there. Another suggestion is that the man was a time traveler from the future, thou this interpretation is arguably more problematic than the one supposing inter-dimensional travel.

It has also been suggested that an incident like that did indeed happen, though perhaps much less sensational. This more mundane story could have been embellished each time it was told, so much so that it eventually evolved into the great mystery that it is known as today.
Finally, it is also entirely possible that this story is merely an urban legend. The story of the ‘Man from Taured’ might not have even occurred in the first place, and may have just been the creation of someone’s imagination
